Variety, 1932: appearing with Francho & Marco productions

Nattova? (From F&M site)
xxx

This is the show with which Nattova travelled at the time.

The Sunkist Ensemble(?) no doubt refers to one of Fancho and Marco's productions.
Fancho and Marco were a brother and sister dance act in the teens. By 1919, they created the business of producing "prologues" to films as a way to promote them and simply to provide shows that could be hired, cheap, by local theaters, as part of their film presentations. F&M, who were deeply religious—they did not drink or swear—eventually created their own farm system of dancing (and singing, etc.) talent for these prologue/shows. By the early 30s, their production company (F&M) was a household name, synonymous with brash and over-the-top productions.
When vaudeville died in the 30s, these prologues continued to be produced—at least until the mid-50s. By the late 30s, Fancho went into to Hollywood producing (she appears to have been the first female Hollywood film producer) and directing. (See subsequent post.)
"Sunkist" is a name associated with F&M productions. I suspect that "On Parade" I refers to one of F&M's "ideas"—their term for shows based on particular themes (much like the shows of Cirque du Soleil in Vegas nowadays).

During this time, Nattova's husband, Nicholas Daks, toured the country with one Carlos Peterson--and Joyce Coles.

March 1932

It's been my understand that Nattova had performed with the Folies B in France. I suspect that that connection was exploited here merely as a marketing ploy.

March 1932
Here we learn something about the show with which Nattova was touring. We learn that (a) Nattova was the headliner, (b) The "Impressions" was evidently a colorful dance performance, written or staged by Leon Leonidoff, produced by Fanchon & Marco [see subsequent post], (c) Sydell's was a dog act, (d) the Four Flushings was a noisy "sailor tumbling act," (e) Rose was an "eccentric" acrobat, (f) Corinne was a toe dancer,
We are provided this description of Nattova's act: "[she] works with a large flower pot, climbing in and around the petunias, which carry her weight. Dance is unusual."
I shall assume that the dance routines described at the end are by the Sunkist Ensemble.

April 21 1932

Here, we learn something about the show with which Daks was touring. Joyce Cole was in "a neat single ballet number." Meanwhile, Carlos Peterson and Nicholas Daks (Nattova's husband) offered "some spiraling in a Russian interlude." Peterson, we learn, was "particularly clinching on the one-legged dervish twisting." The Pasquali Bros. were accrobats. "Cook and Brown" were "colored hoofers."

Later (in December), we're told:
CAPITOL N. Y. New York, Dec. 31.      Stage show is satisfactory if luke warm, but good or bad it stood little chance of finishing better than second behind the feature 'Mata Hari' .... House packed early this afternoon. Jimmy Savo headlined over the stage unit's title, doing his pantomime and gag singing out in 'one' for about 15 minutes. He appeared to miss the warmth of the more intimate vaude and legit houses, but they got enough of the Savo pan and antics to respond with nice applause. The show needed Savo if for nothing else than a personality. Balance is chiefly girly.
Joyce Coles, a rising young lady in the toe dancing class, leads toe numbers, one elevated and one not. The first is a Russian whoopee Idea,-m which Nicholas Daks and Carlos Peterson in a hock step, knee-drop and twirl routine, provide a strong climax. The Hale girls, house line, are colorfully and tastefully costumed in this, as they are through-out the show.

Evidently, Joyce Coles was born in South Africa in 1905 (died in LA in 1991). The above magazine cover is from 1928.
